If you are an Micromine Origin & Beyond (MMOB) user, you are probably familiar with Form Sets. These are saved configurations that can be applied to your project over and over again, and are important for controlling how data is displayed. Below we look at the Form Set Manager and a particular Colour Set and Hatch Set that are used with drillhole data display.
In earlier implementations of Nexus, form sets were difficult to manage and keep synced between team members. Now, we can set up form set syncing through Nexus which will easily keep everyone on the same page. Data displayed using synced form sets will be consistent between all projects that are using Nexus.
To start, we need to enable Form Set syncing in our Nexus Options. In the Nexus section of the Home ribbon, open up Options.
Most teams will want to enable the same options highlighted below. With these settings, users can get access to synced form sets as soon as they open their linked project in MMOB.
Save the desired form set to the Nexus Project. In this case, I'm saving a lithology Hatch Set form to ensure that my colleagues are using consistent colours and patterns when working with the data.
Form sets are distinguished by new prefixes: Local form sets have none, [NX] for those in the Nexus project, and [NG] for those in the Nexus workspace. Any form sets that are saved as Nexus Project types will be available only to MMOB projects linked to a particular Nexus Project. Form sets saved as a Nexus Workspace type will be available to any MMOB projects linked to Nexus Projects within that workspace.
A new user can access these form sets as long as their MMOB project is connected to the appropriate Nexus project. In this gif, we see the process of choosing a Nexus synced form set within an existing layer.
Thanks to updated administrative controls, admin users can control who has read/write access to individual form sets through the Project Settings area. Users with write permissions are able to update and modify form sets within Origin. You might want to give only your project geologists write capabilities, and all others read access to prevent unexpected changes to shared form sets.
This is one of the many ways Nexus will help simplify processes and enhance consistency for your team.
