Let’s say you want to create quick drill programs from collars on a topo surface that target a specific depth for a grade control program and to define ore boundaries. Our Interactive Planning Tool offers great functionality for various drilling scenarios and is widely used for different drill programs. However, the Create Pattern tool has some useful features that might not be immediately obvious. Besides creating drill patterns within a specific area, you can also use it to target a specific elevation.
To do this, select the Pointer option to specify where your first drillhole should be planned. Since this example is not about creating a drill pattern, set the Length to 0.5 and the Line Space to 1. This way, you’ll have one row of drillholes based on the hole spacing you specify.
Next, reference the topo and choose the default Z Elevation, setting it to 1450 in this example.
After loading the drill trace from the planned string, here’s a screenshot showing the planned drillhole at the targeted depth.
