There are four primary roles in the Nexus Licence Manager: Admin, Manager, Full User, and Member. Each role defines a specific level of access and responsibility within the system.
Alongside roles, there are several types of permissions—such as Use and Manage—which determine the actions a user is authorized to perform.
By combining roles and permissions, it is possible to configure tailored access setups to suit particular licenses and usage scenarios.
The Admin role is automatically assigned to the Primary Contact designated by the customer during the licence creation process, as handled by Micromine staff.
This individual will have full access to the Nexus Licence Manager application as an Admin. They will also have the ability to invite additional users and assign appropriate roles to them via the Users > Invite section.
Roles description:
| Role | Description |
| Admin | The Admin role enables management of all company users and licenses and grants access to use all licenses by default, with the exception of Named licenses. |
| Manager | The Manager role allows a user to manage all company users and licenses; however, it does not grant access to use all licenses by default. |
| Full user | The Full User role provides access to use all company licenses, excluding Named licenses. By default, a Full User does not have permission to manage any licenses, but Manage permission can be granted for specific licenses if needed. |
| Member | The Member role does not provide access to use or manage any licenses by default. However, Use or Manage permissions can be granted for specific licenses as required. |
To apply custom modifications to existing roles, permissions can be granted at the licence level. Within a Floating Licence, users with the Admin, Manager roles, or any user granted Manage permission can adjust the Use and Manage sliders for other users.
Certain roles inherently include these permissions—for example, the Admin role does not display sliders for Use and Manage because both permissions are already fully enabled by default (indicated by ticks instead).
For Named licenses, the same principle applies, but the settings are located under a separate tab called Users with Manage. Unlike Floating licenses, there is no Use permission slider, as only the specifically assigned user can use a Named licence. As a result, only Manage sliders are visible in this section.
This way, we can invite a user as a Member and assign them as a user of one licence, a manager of another, and both user and manager of a third licence.
We also recommend inviting one or more additional users as Admins to ensure backup access to your company settings. If Admin access is ever lost, you can contact your local Micromine support team to request assistance.
