Micromine Origin & Beyond offers two types of cloud licenses: Named and Floating. Both are linked to user identities (emails), providing flexibility in how teams and individuals access the software.
Named Licence:
- Each seat is assigned to a specific user
- Only the assigned user can utilize this seat
- Seats can be borrowed for offline work
- Seats can be reassigned to different users as needed; however, this action is limited
Floating Licence:
- Multiple users can be invited to access the available seats
- Seats are shared on a first-come, first-served basis
- Specific seats can be reserved for particular users
- Seats can be borrowed for offline work for a defined period
- An Administrator of the company or license can evict users from active sessions to free up seats
Example:
In a floating licence model with 10 seats and 30 engineers, any 10 engineers can use the software simultaneously. When one engineer finishes and releases the seat, another can then use it.
In contrast, a named licence is dedicated to a single user, ensuring they have exclusive access whenever needed.
This flexibility makes floating licenses cost-effective for organizations with multiple users, while named licenses are beneficial for individual users needing consistent, uninterrupted access.
This video will demonstrate how to find your licence type within the application's interface in less than one minute.
