In this article, we’ll walk through the process of managing a named cloud licence.
Unlike floating licences, a named cloud licence cannot be shared among a group of users (or Teams) —it is assigned to a specific individual. The management process for named licences differs slightly from that of floating licences, as named seats must be assigned to individual users, whereas floating seats are available to a pool of users with Use permission.
To assign a user to a named licence, please follow these steps:
1. Go to the Licences page and locate the licence with the Named tag.
You can use a filter to display only named licences in the list.
2. Expand the licence details to see how many seats are available (i.e., unassigned). You will also be able to view the module contents and the licence expiry date.
3. Click on the licence, then select the View Access button in the top right corner.
4. Find an available slot (unassigned seat) and click the Assign Seat button next to it.
5. Enter the email address of an existing user and click Add. Please note that the user must be invited first via the Users page.
6. Once the user appears in the dialog with their role, you can click Assign to add them to the Named seat.
From that moment, the user will be able to start using the Named licence.
If you want to free up the seat, you can unassign the user from it.
If you want to reassign a user to a Named seat, you can use the Reassign User button.
Please note that the reassignment action is limited for Named licences. Once the limit is reached, you will no longer be able to change the user assigned to a Named seat. In such cases, please contact Micromine Support for assistance.
You can watch this video, which demonstrates all the steps described above.
