The following issue has been addressed in Micromine Origin & Beyond 2023. Dedicated graphics cards will automatically be detected.
Description
You may receive an error suggesting you are using a low-performance graphics adapter when launching Micromine Origin & Beyond. This is most commonly seen with setups that are using a laptop and dock to connect multiple monitors.
Solution
To resolve this issue, you will need to ensure your dedicated graphics card (GPU) is set as the preferred graphics processor for Micromine Origin & Beyond. The steps to achieve this vary depending on if you have an NVIDIA or AMD graphics card.

Identifying your graphics card
- Open your Start menu
- Search and launch Device Manager
- Click the drop-down arrow alongside Display adapters which will display the name, manufacturer and model of your GPU.
Downloading your graphics utility
Once you have identified the manufacturer of your graphics card. You will need to download the relevant utility for your graphics card:
- NVIDIA - NVIDIA Control Panel
- AMD - AMD Radeon Software
NVIDIA graphics cards
- Right-click on the Desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel
- On the left pane, select Manage 3D settings
- Click the Program Settings tab
- Click Add
- Go through the list to find Micromine Origin & Beyond and click Add Selected Program. If you are unable to find it, you may need to manually browse to the executable. This can be found at:
C:\Program Files\Micromine Origin & Beyond 2023\mmwin.exe - Underneath 'Select the preferred graphics processor' ensure you have High-performance NVIDIA processor selected
- Click Apply
AMD graphics cards
Workload optimization for Radeon Vega Series Graphics and later are automatic and no further configuration is required. Earlier GPU models (pre-Vega series) can be configured manually with the AMD Radeon Software. Click here for more information.
Cause
The primary cause are laptop docks that utilize USB DisplayLink technology when connected to monitors.
