How to transfer a network licence (network dongle)

The following article may require assistance from your IT department/provider. We recommend forwarding this article to them to apply the solution provided.

Description

If you are making any changes to the host/ hardware (e.g. CPU) of the server or migrating to a new host server, you will need to follow the transfer process below.

This article does not apply to local/standalone licenses. For information on transferring local node-lock licenses, please click here. 

Procedure

Old Server / Before changes are made to Current Server

1. Unplug physical network dongle (USB) from the server USB port.
    
   
2. Windows search and open Services.msc. Stop Micromine Network License Server services (also known as LM-X network license server) from running.
   
   
   
   
3. Window search and open Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features and uninstall Micromine Network License Server 
   
   

New Server / After changes are made to Current Server

Once the server is ready for use with Micromine, it is necessary to activate the licence again. 

1. Remotely access the server that you intend to host the network license.
2. Plug in the physical Network Dongle that was removed earlier into the USB Port.
3. Move the MICROMINE Network License Server Installer folder to the server.
4. Extract the files and run the installer to install the Micromine Network License Server
   
   
   
   
5. Check Services.msc to ensure the service is currently running.
   
   

On a client computer, launch Origin & Beyond. (If this is your first-time launching Origin & Beyond, Skip to step 2).

1. Go to Project | Licence | Add New License.
   
   
   
   
2. On the welcome window, click Start License Manager.
3. In the License Manager, click the Network Licenses tab, followed by clicking the Discover button (If the discover option does not work, you can click the + button and type your server in the following format 6200@IPAddress or 6200@Hostname).
   
   
4. Click the Activate License button and follow the prompts using your activation code provided by our licensing department.
   
   If you encounter any issues activating, you may need to install the latest Dongle drivers – click here to download.
   
5. After Activation is complete, navigate to License Configurations and click Create new. This will launch another window.
   
   
   
   
6. Select the license feature and complete the setup.
   
   
   
   
7. License activation is complete, and your license server is ready to use.
