The Normal Scores Transformation tool converts your data to a standard normal (Gaussian) distribution, providing a consistent basis for variogram analysis and other geostatistical workflows. The tool also creates a transform file (.mmtransform) that can be reused directly in both Variogram Map and Variograms. Using this transform file automatically applies the exact same Normal Scores transformation during variography, ensuring consistent results throughout your workflow and eliminating the need to manually select Normal Scores as the transformation type each time.
Run the Normal Scores Transformation tool and select the input file containing the data to be transformed. Choose the variable(s) to transform and specify the output transform file (.mmtransform). Optionally, you can also specify an output file and output field to store the transformed Normal Score values for use in other workflows. If required, define lower and upper trimming limits; otherwise, the default settings are suitable for most workflows. Click OK to generate the transform file.
The generated .mmtransform file can also be reused with the Apply Transform tool to perform either a forward transformation (original values to Normal Scores) or a backward transformation (Normal Scores back to the original data values).
When creating a Variogram Map or Variogram, enable Transform, select File as the transformation type, and browse to the saved .mmtransform file. Continue configuring the variography as usual. Do not select Normal Scores under Simple transformation, as the selected .mmtransform file already contains the Normal Scores transformation and will be applied automatically.
Use the same .mmtransform file throughout your variography workflow to ensure a consistent Normal Scores transformation is applied when creating both Variogram Maps and Variograms. This helps produce consistent variogram models and avoids differences caused by applying different transformation settings.
