A common situation modelling geologists find themselves in is needing to extract polygons from solids. Perhaps you've received wireframes from a colleague who's working in another software and you want to generate similar solids in MMOB. Maybe you want to save some polygons to help guide results in our Implicit Modelling tools. Maybe it's just to display your data in a different way. Either way, we've got a tool for creating these sliced polygons.
Use the Planar Intersection tool. You'll find it on the Wireframe ribbon under Generate Strings:
Choose your wireframes in the Input tab:
Choose the direction you want to generate polylines, then the spacing the lines should be sliced at. You can also use a Section Control File.
Type a name for the new file to store your strings and select Autoload, then click Run:
The setup above produced these polylines:
And there you have it! Nice clean polygons to use however you wish. As with any form set, you can include this process as a step in a macro for automated repetition.
