Exporting drillhole traces to various GIS formats allows for seamless integration with mapping and analysis tools. This guide details how to efficiently select, save, and export drillhole data from Vizex to formats such as MapInfo tables and other GIS-compatible file types.
Selecting Drillhole Traces in 3D
The easiest method to select drillhole traces is by displaying them in the 3D Vizex viewer and following one of these steps:

Select All Drillholes

Right-click on the drillhole traces in the Vizex layer display.

Choose Select All Layer Objects to highlight all traces (they will turn blue when selected).

- Right-click on the selected traces in the 3D Viewer to open the context menu.

Choose Save Drillholes As.

Enter a name for the new DAT/STR file and click OK to save it in your project folder.

2. Partial Selection of Drillholes

Switch to Selection Mouse Mode.

Hold left-click and drag in the 3D viewer to select a portion of the drillhole traces.

Follow the same steps above to save the selected traces as a DAT/STR file.

Once the drillhole data is saved as DAT/STR files, follow these steps to export them to GIS formats:

Open the Export GIS Menu

Navigate to File → Export → Export GIS.

Select Input Data

Choose either String or DAT files as input.

Specify the corresponding X, Y, Z coordinates and any relevant join field/string field for attribute linking.

Name the output files.

Select the desired format from the Type dropdown list (e.g., MapInfo Table).

Coordinate System Conversion (Optional)

If no coordinate conversion is required, select None.
