Sometimes geologists receive point clouds with no color associated. It might be very useful to generate color attributes to help them identify the objects picked up by the Lidar. In MICROMINE we provide tools to generate color attributes from an image. Below we have an example of a point cloud with no color associated.
For this lidar, there is also an orthophoto associated with it.
To generate color attributes for your point cloud, click on Survey>Point Cloud>Generate Attributes
Then, fill the dialog with the Lidar under Input and with the orthophoto under Colorization. Type a field under Color field to generate the color attributes.
Run the process to generate the attributes. If your point cloud is very large, it might take some minutes.
Open the dialog of the lidar. Under points tab, insert the Colour field under Colour coding. And then press Ok.
The point cloud will show up with the colors associated with it.
