Web Map Service (WMS), Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) and XYZ Tile Image Services provide a quick and convenient way to display detailed geographic data in Micromine. These image servers are invoked using a standard web browser URL to submit a service request. Note: To connect to servers that are not open source, you will need to acquire a valid licence (username & password) for usage. This article will show you how to set up a WMTS image using a Geoscience Australia WMTS Server as an example; link: https://services.ga.gov.au/gis/rest/services/Land_Cover_WM/MapServer/WMTS/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml. A Google search for WMS, WMTS or XYZ tile image servers will provide a number of different servers with different map types.
The forms for all three are very similar; the only real difference is that you must click Connect for WMS and WMTS Images, and XYZ Tile Images don't have an Image Properties section. Open the Setup WMTS Image form by navigating to File | Image |Setup WMTS Image... (Figure 1). Press Connect (if applicable) to connect to the image server; this will populate the Image Properties section. Some links have multiple layers you can choose to display, so select a layer from the drop-down box. Next, choose a name for the output file.

Pressing OK will load the map into Vizex (Figure 2).

To convert this image to your working coordinate system, simply double-click the image layer in the Vizex Layer Display and select a Target EPSG under the Coordinate Reference System section. The From EPSG is auto-detected from the URL provided. The example in Figure 3 shows a conversion from Pseudo-Mercator to GDA2020/MGA Zone 50.
